About Trichinella sp. T8

One of the Trichinella genus of parasitic nematodes, the causative agents of trichinosis (also known as trichinellosis). The unnamed genotype Trichinella T8 is closely related to T. britovi and has been detected only three times in sylvatic carnivores (lions and a spotted hyena) and only in South Africa and Namibia.

Genome Assembly & Annotation

Assembly

The genome of Trichinella sp. T8 was produced by the Gasser laboratory at the University of Melbourne, as part of the assembly and analysis of all 12 recognized Trichinella species (described in Korhonen et al (2016)).

Annotation

The gene predictions were made by the Gasser laboratory at the University of Melbourne.
